We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to temporarily pedestrianise St John’s Wood High Street in order to support local businesses and prevent them from suffering due to social distancing requirements. More details
We request that SJW High St is temporarily converted into a pedestrian street. This would support local businesses, the heart of our community. As good neighbours, we must support them in these extraordinary times.
The FT quoted Westminster Council itself, it “hopes ‘continental-style’ outdoor eateries will lure customers”. This in turn will lure retail customers.
SJW High St is not in their plan. We request it be included.
SJW St is not a thoroughfare. Motorists can easily find another route
All parking on SJW High St is metered. The majority of residents will not be inconvenienced. We request providing handicapped and meter parking around the corner on SJW Terrace, encouraging the under-utilised parking lot on Kingsmill Terrace, a minute’s walk from the high street
The Tube Station, Buses and Taxis will not be affected as they are located on Acacia and Wellington Rd
This move will allow children, elderly, families and friends to gather safely in a vibrant and safe area
