Petition to: Rescind any proposals to demolish Godwin House and Wingfield House

This petition is now closed, as its deadline has passed.

We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to Rescind any proposals to demolish Godwin House and Wingfield House.

Petition update from the council, 08 November 2012

The Cabinet Member for Housing and Corporate Property provided the following response to the petition:

The decision to press ahead with the renewal of Tollgate Gardens was made in March 2012 and this was made clear at the meeting on 28 June 2012.

Minutes of this meeting were sent to all leaseholders on the estate and can be obtained from Michele Lawrence.

In November 2010 a significant majority of residents who will be affected by the programme voted in favour of regeneration. 76% decided that they wanted to see development on the estate with Option 4 being the most popular choice. As you are aware this design received 37% of the vote. The vote occurred after extensive consultation with residents and we are committed to ensuring that we continue to inform the community of progress.

I appreciate that while certain members of the site will not be convinced by the proposals, a majority of the residents are keen to see work commence and completed so they are able to reap the rewards of living in much improved estate and I hope in time you will see this too.
