We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to to refuse any application submitted to them from Crossrail which would allow them to ferry tunnel cement lining by lorry along Harrow Road with a right turn into Great Western Road. Crossrail plan to use up to 40 lorries each way every day in this direction until May 2013. More details
Such a massive increase in heavy traffic in the area would have a detrimental effect on health, safety and business activity of the local residents and local businesses. Crossrail have the option of using an alternative method of transporting these linings and that is by the use of the Grand Union Canal which runs alongside the tunnelling site.

Unfortunately petitions on planning decisions are excluded from the petitions provisions in the relevant Act and as such in the Council's Petition Scheme. The purpose of this is to avoid duplicating procedures where established processes exist for communities to have their say. I attach a link to the Scheme on the Council's website where this is clearly outlined. http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/councilgovernmentanddemocracy/westminster-petitions/the-city-councils-petition-scheme/ The appropriate way forward in this instance would be to submit an objection to the Development Planning Delivery Unit when a planning application(s)by Crossrail is submitted attaching your own petition if desired.
