We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to Retain the current use of Swallow House, Allitsen Road, London NW8 8JZ.
Petition update from the council, 29 October 2012Thank you for your recent petition regarding the possible relocation of the “New Village Club”.
Following the recent concerns raised by your members, I am pleased to advise that we have decided not to explore the relocation further and to withdraw the planning application.
It may be helpful if I share the background information on this matter. In March 2012, a meeting was held at the St Johns Wood Estate Office with representatives of the New Village Club , where we explained we wanted to explore the possible relocation of the Estate Office to the Village Club. The reason was that the lease at Wellington Road was due to expire and we were looking to see if there were any more convenient locations for our residents available and if we could make any savings.
We discussed alternative facilities for the weekly bingo session held at the Amberley Estate clubroom and we agreed to make transport arrangements for the members, if we eventually decided to move to the Village Club.
As some representatives of the Club were happy with the proposal, we submitted the Planning Application to see if the relocation was possible. As this is no longer being considered we are renegotiating our lease to remain at the Wellington Road office.
You may be aware that the hall is underused with the bingo sessions being the only regular booking. We are looking to encourage more user groups to fully utilise this valuable resource and welcome any ideas you may have.
Please contact me if I can be of any assistance.
