We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to Save Westminster's Libraries. More details
Petition update from the council, 14 March 2017Dear Cllr Hug
Response to petition - Save Westminster's Libraries
I am writing to you as lead petitioner in response to the petition received by the Council entitled Save Westminster's Libraries. the petition has now closed and received a total of 270 signatures.
Westminster City Council is proud of its library service and will continue to have the highest spend per resident on library services of any council in the country. Despite the Council facing budget pressures, no libraries will close and we will continue to provide a well-resourced, professional service available to all who live, work or study in the City. No change is not an option, and staff have been consulted and engaged throughout the process. The service is investigating a wide range of options for additional funding in future, including commercial activities, sponsorship and more extensive use of library buildings.

More details from petition creator
We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to halt its planned cut of £750,000 from the library service budget that would see the equivalent of 17 ½ full-time members of staff, mostly librarians, lose their jobs. The council should open a full public consultation and find alternative methods for raising the funding required in order to protect Westminster’s vital library service.
