We the undersigned petition Westminster City Council to Not consider moving the recycling bins adjacent to Paddington Gardens North to Luxborough Street, better organise and police the local area for recycling and drug usage. More details
This petition asks WCC to consider 1) the location of the bins but not to move them to Luxborough St 2) to better organise the recycling area and 3) to raise its policing and prevention around drug use that may be occurring.
Concerns have been raised that the recycling bins in Paddington St have become a dumping ground for general rubbish. A petitioned relocation raised concerns that the bins are 1) an 'eyesore' and that they 2) service the proliferation of drug use due to the coverage the bins provide against the outer walls of the park. This closed petition seeks to relocate these concerns to Luxborough St without offering a sustainable solution that tackles its root causes.
It should be noted that there is no 'empty plot' in Luxborough St as specified in the petition, since the play area is to be renovated and under current consultation. Secondly, Luxborough St has numerous families and is one of the most densely populated streets in Marylebone so the proposals will cause more overall harm to families if the ASB claims are correct. Lastly, Paddington St is an important central Marylebone thoroughfare (B road) and accessible to more of the local community than a side road.
