The investigation should uncover:

- Financial links between developers and their agents and public authorities. It should achieve full transparency and look at whether there has been any improper behaviour or conduct.

- Why the Council severely underestimated how long building works would last, and what measures will be put in place to hold developers to account so the project is finished quickly.

- What compensation the local community is entitled to.

- Put the views and concerns of the local community at the forefront of the investigation.

On 30 October a power cut caused by the development led to local businesses closing early and losing business. This is the latest episode in a process that has gone on for years.

The local community has been left reeling: Residents have borne the brunt of the constant disruption of diggers and experienced fires and floods; and local businesses have weathered repeated blows with many forced to close down. Meanwhile, the developers have shown an absolute disregard for local people's needs.

This needs to end once and for all. There needs to be proper accountability.
